Carlos Garaicoa

To accompany a recent exhibition of Carlos Garaicoa’s work at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Charta published Carlos Garaicoa: Overlapping, a catalog with contributions from Okwui Enwezor, Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy, Seán Kissane and Enrique Juncosa (DAP).

“In his work, the city acts as a metaphor not only for the nature of the human condition but as a trope of the failure of 20th century ideologies. Garaicoa uses Havana, the city where he grew up as the starting point for a large number of his works and from there he applies a similar methodology when approaching the megacities in locations such as Japan and Brazil.” –Charta
