2010 has seen a convergence of exhibitions and related projects on John Latham and his archive.
John Latham: Anarchive, organized by Antony Hudek, Athanasios Vlios, and Nayia Yiakoumaki, closes Sept. 5th at the Whitechapel, while The Story of the Rio (Abridged) ran in May and June at Flat Time House, the artist’s former home and studio in London, at the same time as The Lisson Gallery Does Not Exist for 100 Years at Lisson and Works 1961-1995 at Karsten Schubert.
The Body Event: Language is a Flawed Medium, David Toop’s sound work for computer and voice made with Latham in 2004, runs for two weeks in September at pro qm in Berlin.
A new DVD of Latham’s films, published by Lux and Lisson, will launch at the Whitechapel on Sept. 4th, while there will be a screening and discussion with Hudek at pro qm on Sept. 5th. Hudek and Velios also co-edited The Portable John Latham for Occasional Papers (images at Motto). Ridinghouse also published Canvas Events.
