Karel Appel: A Gesture of Colour

Last fall saw the publication of a bilingual edition of Jean-François Lyotard’s 1992 text, Karel Appel: A Gesture of Colour, published by Leuven and distributed by Cornell, with a translation by Vlad Ionescu and Peter Milne.

— Dirk Setton

It is the first in a five-volume series of Lyotard’s writings on contemporary art and artists. See also the bibliography at the Karel Appel Foundation.

In 2003, Dirk Setton wrote about Lyotard’s text for Texte zur Kunst 50,  a special issue on the 1950s.
